Solid Wood Flooring<\/strong><\/p>

Solid wood flooring systems are made from a single piece of wood, typically 18-20mm thick. These boards are fitted using tongue-and-groove. With the various types of wood available they all have a hardness score. This hardness score indicates how easily they can be dented, worn or damaged by everyday wear and tear.

Solid wood floors are best in areas where there are not to many changes in temperature or humidity eg. hallways and living areas.<\/p>

Engineered Wood Flooring<\/strong><\/p>

Engineered wood floors are made of multiple layers of thin wood glued together to make a plank of about 14mm thick. The thin wood is glued at right angles to make it strong. The plank is covered in a 4mm-5mm veneer of wood to give it the appearance of solid wood. Engineered wood, like solid wood floors, can be sanded to remove scuffs and marks.

Engineered wood floors can be laid anywhere but should not be exposed to water or humidity.<\/p>

Laminate Flooring<\/strong><\/p>

Laminate flooring systems are made from fibre board compressed into planks. The laminate planks are then covered with a photographic image of wood, tiles, stones and a variety of other finishes. A protective covering is the final layer on laminate planks that help prevent the photographic image wearing out.
